Thank you for visiting us here. Please read this important update concerning My Sister Song (6/11/2014):

It is very difficult to know how to begin this last addition of the My Sister Song Newsletter so I think I need to just dive right in and I realize this will be a shock and disappointment to many.  My Sister Song and I are saying goodbye for now.  It has been an intense, challenging, and in many ways a precious 5 year journey as a volunteer.  When I first started MSS, I had no idea what to expect or for how long we would exist.  I was asked by my pastor to do this and I have given all, and often times too much in terms of maintaining balance in my life which has been a strain on my most important relationships and has taken a toll on me.  I’ve learned many things about myself to include recognizing when it is time for me to step away and acquire some healing of my own.  I had high hopes of replacing myself with someone to carry on the ministry, but the time needed for such a task is more than I can give right now.  I apologize to all who were set up for training as it has been cancelled and to anyone else who is impacted by this decision.  God willing, My Sister Song or a new version of it may rebuild at some point down the road under new leadership which I would support whole-heartedly.

The trafficking issue is huge and the level of pain and wounding in women in and from the sex industry runs deep.  But God is greater than all of it and He cares very much for this hurting population and is raising up an army to deal with it.  So please consider starting a group, joining a group, and/or financially and prayerfully supporting this cause as there are many ways to be involved apart from My Sister Song and www.iamatreasure.com andhttp://www.michiganabolitionistproject.org/ are GREAT places to start!

I will forever cherish the many precious connections I’ve made with industry and ex-industry girls.  “Thank you” hardly seems like enough to all who have supported me and MSS with their money, time, efforts, and prayers, and I want to say thank you to my church for believing in me and supporting our efforts in a variety of ways.  Thank you to my wonderful husband and friends who have loved me through my emotional journey of leading a ministry of this nature, and for your patience with me as I’ve been absent.   May God bless each and every one of you for your beautiful hearts.

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”  Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”  (Revelation 21:5)

All my love,

Laura Urenda – My Sister Song Founder
